When Should You Plan Your Exterior Painting Project in NJ?

When Should You Plan Your Exterior Painting Project in NJ?

We may have had a mild winter, but it’s still, well, winter!

Your focus has likely been more indoors than out, completing those interior painting projects and improvements on your to-do list.

We’ve had a similar focus, finishing numerous interior updates for our New Jersey painting clients, from kitchen cabinets to stairways. In fact, you may want to take a closer look:

All of this leads to an important question: when should you start thinking about exterior painting? We’ve got a few tips for you.

It Pays To Plan Ahead! Start Thinking Through Your Exterior

Here are a few key reasons why this is such a good strategy:

  • Catch your painter early! As we’ve mentioned before, painters always think a season ahead. That means that right now your local painting company is already beginning to fill their spring schedule, and maybe even into the early summer. Planning ahead lets you catch them while they’re available, guaranteeing that your project will be high on their list.
  • Catch damage early! Winter leaves a mark, from mold and dirt accumulation to wood rot and decay. Catching these weak points early lowers repair costs, and helps to minimize any damage.
  • Prepare your home for the summer season! A number of our clients have homes on the coast, and need thorough power washing services to make sure the home is free of salt residue and ready for hot-weather fun.
  • Beat the summer heat! Believe it or not, spring and fall are better seasons for exterior painting than summer. Blistering heat and relentless sunshine can be liabilities during the paint application and adhesion process, but the slightly cooler weather of spring and fall are ideal.

Best of all, exterior painting early means that you can start enjoying that new curb appeal even sooner. After all, painting may be practical, but it’s also just plain fun.
